BFS is proud to present 2 showings (2:00 PM & 6:30 PM) of the Missoula-based Montana Film Festival 5-day Roadshow Tour of Walking Out. In this anticipated new adventure/drama, based on acclaimed writer David Quammen’s masterful 1980 short story and directed by Missoula brothers Alex and Andrew J. Smith (The Slaughter Rule, Winter in the Blood), a teenager travels to rural Montana for his yearly visit with his reclusive father. A hunting trip meant to help them bond becomes a fight for life and death after a series of extreme events leaves them dependent on each other to survive. Starring Matt Bomer, Josh Wiggins, Bill Pullman, Lily Gladstone and Alex Neustaedter, Walking Out is a primal tale of connection, survival and the true path to manhood. Shot against the strikingly beautiful and dramatic mountains of Southwest Montana by cinematographer Todd McMullen, the film also features supporting cast and crew from the Bozeman and Livingston area.

Joining us at both showings are award-winning writer and Bozeman resident, David Quammen, screenwriter/director Alex Smith, and cinematographer Todd McMullen, who will share insights into the creative process of taking a short story to the silver screen.

Support for Roadshow Tour comes from the Montana Film Office, IFC Films, the Montana Wilderness Association, Backcountry Hunters & Anglers, Made in Montana and the Boone & Crockett Club. Screenings are at 2:00 p.m. & 6:30 p.m. at the Ellen Theatre. Reserved seats are $15.00/General; $13.75/Seniors & Students (plus fees.) Rated PG-13, the film runs 95 minutes.
