BASED ON PETER TURNER’S MEMOIR OF THE PASSIONATE MAY-DECEMBER ROMANCE  BETWEEN TURNER AND ECCENTRIC ACADEMY AWARD-WINNING ACTRESS GLORIA GRAHAME IN LIVERPOOL, FILM STARS IS A TENDER PORTRAIT OF FADED GLAMOUR.

She starred with Humphrey Bogart and James Stewart, But Gloria Grahame refused to bow to Hollywood sexism and was driven out. Based on Peter Turner’s memoir, Frank Cottrell-Boyces’ new film follows the playful but passionate relationship between Turner (Bell) and the eccentric Academy Award winning actress Gloria Grahame – known for such roles as the girl who couldn’t say no in Oklahoma! and the wayward small-town floozy in It’s a Wonderful Life. What starts as a vibrant affair between a legendary femme fatale and her young lover in Liverpool quickly grows into a deeper relationship, with Turner being the person Gloria turns to for comfort as she battles a life-threatening illness. Rated R. 104 minutes.

“What an astounding actress Annette Bening is. And she’s at her very best playing Gloria Grahame, a screen siren of the 1940s and 1950s.” Rolling Stone
